Motorist sleeping at light arrested

Police arrested a 51-year-old man on DUI charges after they found him asleep at the wheel while stopped at a traffic light at 12th Avenue and 41st Street Friday, January 26. Police said that the suspect was seen sleeping inside his car with the car running. When an officer knocked on the window to rouse him, the suspect got startled and opened one of the car doors. Police reached in to put the vehicle in park and turn the engine off and found that there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the suspect. When an officer was attempting to place the suspect under arrest, he found a near-empty bottle of whiskey in the suspect’s pocket. The man reportedly refused a Breathalyzer. Police said that the man’s license had been revoked due to two prior convictions.

Women fast break from Clyde Frazier’s

An employee of Clyde Frazier’s at 485 10th Avenue told police that a large party skipped out on a tab at the restaurant on Saturday, January 27 around 10:30 p.m. The waitress told police that 10 women racked up a bill of $299 and then left the restaurant without paying.

Lip balm bandit busted

Police arrested a 30-year-old man for stealing more than a dozen lip balm products from the Rite Aid at 282 Eighth Avenue on Friday, January 26 around 10:30 a.m. Police said that the suspect took nine Chapstick tubes, 10 Blistex containers and three Nivea lip care products and then tried to leave without paying for the items. An employee told the store that the products were valued at a total of $81.

Woman arrested for assault

Police arrested a 28-year-old woman for assault inside Scores Nightclub at 536 West 28th Street on the early morning of Friday, January 26. The bouncer at the nightclub told police that the suspect and her friend, who fled, were trying to get into the club without paying the cover charge about at 1:30 a.m. The bouncer told police that the women punched and slapped him multiple times when he tried to escort them out of the nightclub. He told police that the second woman fled east on West 28th Street.

Man busted for stun gun

Police arrested a 26-year-old man for criminal possession of a weapon at the northeast corner of Ninth Avenue and 20th Street on Friday, January 26 at 2:28 a.m. Police stopped the suspect at the intersection because he reportedly had an unauthorized license plate light. Police requested to search the vehicle after smelling a strong odor of marijuana, after which officers recovered a stun gun that was in plain view on the center console underneath the radio.

passenger wanted for theft

A 32-year-old cab driver told police that a passenger stole items from his taxi while he was at the southwest corner of Ninth Avenue and 40th Street on Sunday, January 28 around 3:30 a.m. He told police that he had an intoxicated passenger who took the driver’s phone charger and TLC license and then fled.
